Manitoba Concerned About Holdback in Federal Aid
Manitoba officials express deep concern over signs the federal government may withhold payments promised for federal provincial cost sharing programs. The issue centers on possible shifts of Ottawa’s share, potentially balancing budgets at the provinces’ expense. Programs affected include flood control postsecondary education and various vocational training plans. Manitoba ministers refused further comment beyond the concern.
