Graduates Celebrate MacGregor Collegiate Awards Night
Thirty six students received diplomas at MacGregor Collegiate Institute in Iugay during a formal graduation and awards ceremony. Staff and student leaders presented athletic, academic, house, and staff prizes with captains and awardees named, including Brian Tomchuk and Edna Wieler for athletics and Patti Parkess for IX, Regina Rumane k for X, Bruce Hay for XI, Buha for XII.

Picnic at Rosehill Honors Graduates and Scholarships
The Rosehill district held its annual picnic on Sunday June 20 with lovely weather and record attendance. Former residents from Brandon Portage and Winnipeg joined in racing high jumping ball games and visiting. Supper was served outdoors from two barbecues as the district ladies club thanked all helpers, with special mention to Schweitz McLennans and Jarold Poyser. Citizenship awards went to Gloria Scara Curtis Sims Fern Frank Dean Frank Debbie Manns Marilyn Hulme Jack Hay Regina Romaneik Ray Nichol Barry Rodgers, with honorable mention Gordie Lye and Shawn Harkness. Pine Creek scholarships were presented by J P Claggett to Gloria Scara 300 June Buhr 300-301 Arlene Lintott Jim Halliday 301 Frank Froese introduced guest speaker H Carmichael who urged bigness in character and action. Dean Frank spoke for the graduates.

North Norfolk Fair Opens With Variety of Exhibits
The North Norfolk and District Agricultural Society hosts its 84th annual exhibition and sports this weekend. Events include 4H calf clubs show and sale, MacGregor 4H horse show, a Friday dance, pancake breakfast, a parade at 9 30, livestock judging at noon, opening by Gerald Cobbe MP at 2, and competitions in baseball, fastball, Arabian horse show, and a late afternoon macrame and diamond willow finishing display. Sunday features invitation baseball, Light Horse show, Little League ball, and girls fastball with mid day attendance and various exhibits.

Rain fell again Saturday with a heavy morning shower and another down at supper. No hail occurred. Summer has brought frequent rain and beach weather with temperatures in the 70s and 80s.
Dankesveiters Celebrate 35th Wedding Anniversary
Frank and wife Dankesveiter were feted by 62 guests on Sunday June 20 marking their 35th wedding anniversary and Fathers Day. The couple married at Portage June 20 1936 and have since farmed and run stores in Mak, River, Sidney. Their two children Marvelle and Glenn and seven grandchildren are noted. Austin hosts its annual sports day attracting a large crowd on July 1. More than fifty teams entered events across baseball fastball and Pony League. Bruce Graham earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at Manitoba convocation and will pursue graduate studies after a fellowship.

Neepawa will host about 200 participants in the Manitoba Holiday Festival of Arts from July 4 to 16 along with numerous arts festival editors, festival officials, and municipal guests. Clean-a-Thon Nets Over 165 For MacGregor Centre
The MacGregor and District CG.LT. girls held a clean-a-thon in MacGregor raising about 165 for the MacGregor and District Community Centre. About twenty-five girls participated, collecting sponsors per bag of garbage and up to nine bags each. Garbage bags were donated by the village council. Lye's Ltd. trucks hauled debris to the disposal grounds. The girls cleaned every street, the school, college, fair grounds, and vacant lots, earning praise and a vote of thanks from sponsors and helpers.
