County banks report a healthy two month gain adding 152,660.05 to total resources. September cash totals show 2,591,486.65 with regional distributions across Blaine Everson Sumas Ferndale Lynden Custer Ferndale and other towns.
Local social column records visits and gatherings around North Prairie. Mrs Clarke, Mr Bruce and daughters hosted guests in Lyn n for Jones birthday. What-So-Ever Club members and friends shared a lunch and discussed next meeting with Grandma Wilder of Nooksack named. Various households hosted travelers from Bellingham, Sumas, Everett and Nebraska, with showers and mutual visits noted. A Lynden home reception leads into a forthcoming at-home date for the Taylors. A $10 butterfat prize is offered at the fair for top cow.

Winona Williams to attend Mt Vernon school after Lyn den vacation. Ferndale Rebekah lodge hosted by Lynden ladies at I O O F Hall. Oldemeyer left for Lamando California to see a seriously ill brother. Christian Endeavor held farewell for president Charles Le Cocq at D Van Wyhe home with games and apple pie served to 35 guests. Schrimsher of Ten Mile operated on for appendicitis in Bellingham. Mrs M Vander Griend hosted 30 guests for birthday. gifts given. Non-Partisan League meeting at Haynie Corners Saturday 8 pm Lynden residents urged to attend. Pavement now open to Haynie from Lynden. Elmer Lund hosted dinner for several guests including Treman, Lund, Bert Woody, Rev Ashby and family, and Lulu Erickson.
Lynden women urged county commissioners to appoint a county home demonstration agent. Miss Minerva Lawrence highlighted the agent’s potential to ease household tasks, with government support offering 300 dollars annually and growth after July 1, 1921. Mrs. Wills Jackman was chosen to lead the delegation to the October 4 meeting.

A preliminary meet at the Fair Grounds featured Red Spinner versus Magnifico for a $75 purse. Magnifico broke a leg in the main event and was shot. Over twenty-five horses are training there with entries from Vancouver Chilliwack Port Townsend and other points.
An attempted bank robbery at Custer State Bank in Custer failed Friday night. The attackers used nitroglycerin to breach the vault, but an extra set of bolts prevented the door from opening and the robbers fled the scene.
A serious accident occurred on Blaine Sumas road Thursday evening when an Overland driven by C Hamilton of Bellingham caught the front wheel in the rear wheel of a Ford driven by Harry Vander Mey. Vander Mey was injured in the crash with facial and left arm wounds while Hamilton escaped injury. Cecil Jamieson left Wednesday to attend the State University at Seattle.
North Prairie plans a Monday afternoon fair from 2 to 4 PM with the North Prairie Achievement Clubs displaying their work and a program. Fred Rockey will judge the entries and the best projects may advance to the county fair.
Local notes record a farewell party at the J Vander Yacht home at Wiser Lake honoring Miss Evelyn Vander Yacht with dancing into the night. Various residents share visits and social gatherings across Lynden Bellingham and nearby farms as residents travel and host events.
Whatcom County Fair opens Tuesday morning at Lyndon grounds and runs through Saturday. An extra building and a large Poultry Building promise expanded exhibits with entries from Spokane Tacoma Puyallup and other areas. The Agriculture Manufactures and Grange displays will feature premiums contests air demonstrations horse racing stock parades and School Day Lynden Day events led by Secretary George Waples.
A petition to organize a Reformed Church with English services in Lynden was submitted to the Christian Re formed Church consistory by forty families. The request will be referred to the Classis de nomination for action at its Lynden meeting on Oct. 6.
The Kensington Club plans a Friday afternoon gathering at Mrs B V Mounter's home to mend library books, continuing their community service and book care efforts.
Mr and Mrs George Rosenhall and daughter Anna visited in Bellingham Sunday. Beatrice Dahlquist spent the week end with her parents. Ted Coggins returned from Lander British Columbia to attend Meridian High School. Mrs Jensen and children of Ferndale visited the Small home. Mr and Mrs Austin Wheeler and children visited Mr and Mrs Dan Wolfe. The Dahlquists and Arthur Dahlquist family were Sunday dinner guests at Mrs Nessman in Fairview. Daughters of Dorcas met at Wiser Lake Hall and elected officers. Howard Nessen left for Pullman to attend the State. Coggins family and guests from Vancouver and Lander visited the Coggins home. The high school mixer Friday night was well attended.
