Lynden residents and baseball fans meet Friday night at Lynden High School to form a permanent group to back a Lynden Twilight League team next season. A local firm pledges up to 500 dollars if a competitive, well-supported team is fielded.

The Farmer-Labor convention chose Lynden candidates for statewide and county posts to go before voters in the general election. Henry Shagren was named Representative, David W. Bender for County Auditor, Gerrit Kok for Commissioner Third District, with Bauman defeated for County Clerk but a likely renomination by the county committee. Other nominees include J. J. Faulkner State Senator, James Milholland Representative, A. C. Durham County Attorney, John Creamer Treasurer, F. P. Edwards Assessor, E. J. Harrington Sheriff, Thelma Olson School Superintendent, A. R. Campbell Engineer, and Dr. O. E. Beebe Coroner.
Standard Oil Company of California sends a 100 dollar donation to Lynden Park Fund raising toward a 3000 dollar goal. The NW manager confirms approval and a check will be sent once Lynden confirms other subscriptions are received and the park land purchase proceeds.
A Lynden group of about a dozen players met at Will Meurer’s home Monday night to form the Lynden Basketball Association. They elected Meurer as manager and listed Fred Hatley Fred Rock Cecil Jamieson Gale Edson Ed Le Cocq and others among the attendees. Practice will start soon and the team will compete in the Waatcom County Basketball League with eight suits ordered and financing being arranged.
A five month old pullet at George Gustin farm produced a remarkable shell egg measuring eight inches by six and three eighths inches and weighing four ounces. The egg is on display at The Tribune office.
The Jersey Breeders of Whatcom County announce a $100 prize for the best Jersey cattle at the Whatcom County Fair. A notable Jersey showing is anticipated this month at the fairgrounds. George Leek returns to Lynden Creamery work after vacation and a foot injury from a recent baseball game.
The Whatcom County Fair opens in eleven days with reports of top exhibits. Daily airplane flights and band concerts join horse races and a large Pullman extension display. Premiums include cash prizes for baking, cookies, coffee, canned goods, and dozens of livestock prizes with local firms underwriting many awards. Secretary George M. Waples lists additional premiums and sponsors across Lynden, Bellingham, and surrounding areas.

Lynden voters cast 258 ballots from 400 registered as part of a county and city tally. The Lynden totals show Hartley winning governor with 78 votes and Coyle securing 78. various local officers and precincts favored different candidates across the county ticket and port district, with detailed counts for senator, representative, treasurer, auditor, and other offices.
Governor Hart leads Hartley by about 5,857 votes with 75 percent of returns. Jones named senator. Coyle ahead for lieutenant governor. Brown, Pemberton contending for second spot. Port District approves 46 to 1. Hardin listed for November ballot unopposed. County race tight with Healy and Pemberton near second position as ten precincts remain.
Epworth League plans a reception at the M E Church Friday evening honoring Lynden school teachers with an inviting program. Mrs Mary Harris Amor known as the woman orator of America will speak at Liberty Hall Bellingham tonight at o oclock on The New Civilization Matchless Mary earned the name during her England tour. she is noted as a rapid fire, logical, witty speaker.
Rev. W. O. Benadom, returning from the Western Washington Methodist Minister's Conference in Olympia, will be reassigned to his Lynden pastorate for another year. The Conference Officers and Board approved the return, following a petition from local Methodists urging his continuation.
Wendell Bloom and his brother Homer work in Alberta harvest fields about 150 miles north of Calgary. They earn 8 dollars a day plus board, and Wendell studies tractor operation to run combines. rates rise to 12 to 15 dollars daily. Bloom notes scarce help and good conditions. he previously mined copper in Idaho and plans electrical engineering school after harvest.
