At the regular meeting the Washington ladies corps reports steady attendance despite rain and mud. Irene True joined the membership and Mrs Mohler and Mrs Will Storrey are improving. Next Friday the 27th an inspector will visit to inspect the corps. Grandma McPherson was absent, likely due to illness.

Grange Organizes At North Wood With About Eighty Members

Tag Day reports C E Lancaster returning from Ellensburg and noting crops east of the mountains are first class this year. A Grange is organized at North Wood with about eighty members. George Whipple elected Master Xelpha Spencer Secretary Ethel Crabtree Treasurer Aline Bloom Lecturer. Other officers to be elected next meeting. Meetings set for the first and third Fridays each month.

Lynden school announces afternoon dismissal changes starting Nov 20 to 1 60 P M for longer noon breaks. Visitors include Frank Bixby Roy Clark and C D Jones plus Tag Day efforts by Mesdames Beckes Cole. Debate with Everson set for Dec 19 1908 on direct legislation. Normal College accreditation visit led to new courses a new eleventh grade and borrowing lab apparatus and library books for the Lynden debate.

Majority Rule Caucus Nominates Town Officials

The Majority Rule Caucus met at the town hall on Wednesday evening nominating three councilmen and a treasurer for two years. Arthur L. Swim named permanent chairman and A. N. French secretary. Committees on platform and rules were formed, with later appointments to fill vacancies. The ticket includes John W. Edwards D Cruikshank and R Heaton for councilmen and George Blonden for treasurer. They pledge to seek annual voter expression on saloon licensing and to support a reading room and library via Tag Day funds.

Larry Kelley Captured Near Custer

Immigration Inspector M. C. Ferris of Custer found Larry Kelley asleep by a camp fire a mile south of Custer while pursuing smugglers. Kelley carried 15 lbs of opium. Customs officer Vail brought him to Blaine for trial before the U. S. Commissioner and he was bound over to the Superior Court.

Death of G W Blowers at 93 in Lynden area

G W Blowers aged 93 died peacefully last Saturday after a long life spent in New York and the Pacific Northwest. He leaves two sons J W Blowers and A D Blowers of Seattle. Funeral services were held at the Lynden home Tuesday morning conducted by Rev J M Wilder with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

Patrons Visit Lynden Schools on Open Day

Large crowds toured Lynden schools on Wednesday afternoon for Patrons Day. Rooms were decorated by children with displays of reg war work and programs in many rooms impressed visitors. The visit increased local interest in the Lynden schools. The W C T U thanked Mayor Walter Elder and editors Jones and Stuart for their saloon debate coverage.
