Red Cross Plans Annual Roll Call Next Month

The Red Cross will hold its fourth annual roll call from November 11 to 25 with a focus on dues gathering rather than drives. Local officers expect most canvassing to finish in the first week and emphasize that more than half of membership fees stay in the community while overhead remains under four percent at national headquarters and across divisions.

Harding and G. O. P. candidates win out

President-elect Warren G. Harding secured 346 electoral votes and Washington state Governor elect Louis F. Hart led by 61,406 votes with 1537 of 2378 precincts reported. Republicans gain solid majorities in state senate and house as Carter and bonus measures pass.

Creamery Boosts Members Pay as Outside Dairymen Lose

The Lynden plant raises member butterfat pay by three cents per pound while nonmembers lose three cents. A October 23 meeting of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association approved the extra member rate to entice outsiders to join and to reward existing members. Hauling charges for butterfat increase from one to two cents per pound due to longer distances.
