A pamphlet from the School Board of the School for Christian Primary Instruction argues public schools lack religious training and moral discipline. Word has been received of the death of Mr J S Wright who went to California with W J Forbes. The remains will be sent to Lynden for burial and are expected to arrive Saturday or Sunday with a funeral Monday. Wright was a member of the G A R and of the Masonic fraternity, and the funeral will be in charge of the Masons.
May prayers honor fallen heroes as we lay flowers on their graves. Citizens recall brave battles for the flag, with drum rolls, calm slumber, and timeless tribute to the honored dead.
A Decoration Day program at Jamieson’s Opera House features songs and recitations by grade pupils under Rev. C E Hodge and Rev G J Brouwer, with vocal selections and a march to the cemetery by Lynch Post No 42 and Lynch Relief Corps. All businesses close 12 to 6 pm and the post office 10 am to 6 pm. Whatcom County Fair dates are October 21–24.

Judge Pemberton sentenced Mr. Sefrit of the Bellingham American Reveille to 15 days in county jail and a fine of 825 dollars for libel of F. W. Bixby. A motion for a new trial was denied and the case will be appealed to the Supreme Court.
