Allen Dominates at County Field Day for Blaine

Blaine wins the big meet with 91 points led by Allen who scored 49. Lynden places second with multiple point-winners while Ferndale takes girls and boys pennants in group three and Custer tops group four with 23 points.

Lynden Seniors to Receive Diplomas in Graduation Program

Lynden High School seniors will receive diplomas tonight at the annual graduation in the high school auditorium. Rev. Palma will deliver the invocation and Wendell Bloom and others will speak. Alumni and community groups attend as the program includes a baccalaureate service and senior play All-of-a-Sudden Peggy and related cast members receive praise.

Glendale girl wins prize in declaratory contest

Marcelline Lacy of Glendale School won first prize in Group 2 at the county declamatory contest held at Glendale High School Saturday evening. Her piece was The Aspiring Dishwasher. Francis Bellingar of Meridian won boys Group 1 with The Boy Orator of Zepala City. Oliver Ingersoll of Nooksack placed second. Emilie Sanford of Sumas took first in girls Group 1 with Gertrude Swem of Blaine second.

To Mark Bad Curves On Glendale Road

The Lynden Community Club plans danger signals at sharp Glendale road curves to aid night driving after several wrecks. They aim to use red mirror signals and mark additional curves as payments in the area finish. Hawleys Park cleanup and camping conveniences are scheduled for Wednesday May 13 with all members urged to attend.

The May 7 young people's meeting included a program with America songs and recitations, talks by Whitney Van Patten and Paul Brown, instrumental music by Vergie Clarke, and a flag salute. Forty attended lunch. New offices were installed for Worthen, Kelsey, Lorietta Rinehart, and Mary Palmer. Several readings and appreciations were given and members Bradley, Treadway, and McSorley were noted.

Government aids Lynden soldiers with claims help

A government claims aid visit will serve Lynden service men Saturday from 2 to 9 pm at Bauman Realty Company office opposite Lynden State Bank. Red Cross official, James Gaul, and George Machin will assist with bonuses, back pay, allotments, and insurance inquiries free of charge. The session aims to finalize unsettled government business. The American Legion and Women’s Auxiliary hold their first social at the G A R Hall next Wednesday evening.

Bids Open Monday for New Lynden Plant of Dairymen’s Association

Bids will be opened Monday for the construction of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association plant in Lynden. The facility aims to be in operation by September, with the Lynden Creamery buildings retained and integrated. A two story 60 by 150 foot milk powder building and a separate 40 by 50 foot boiler house will use hollow tile construction and six hundred horsepower boilers.
