Lynden Council Orders General Clean Up

Lynden council approves an ordinance requiring property owners to remove garbage every three days and waste every thirty days. Mayor Ed en appoints William S. Bald rin as Commissioner of Sanitation to enforce rules including burning only in receptacles and no dumping on streets or streams. A section covers removal of manure and straw from chicken houses.

Lynden Ordinance Regulates Garbage and Manure Disposal

Lynden Washington adopts an ordinance regulating garbage manure and waste within town limits. It declares accumulations a nuisance and sets seasonal limits for manure and chicken droppings, defines garbage and waste matter, prohibits littering and burning except in approved receptacles, and requires removal beyond town limits or to municipal dumping grounds. A sanitation commissioner's authority and penalties for violations are outlined. The measure was passed May 6 1921 with mayoral approval and publication May 12 1921.

Nothing But the Truth senior play delights Lynden seniors

The final production of the Senior Play Nothing But The Truth drew a capacity Lynden audience last night at the Liberty Theater. Hoyt Horton as Bob Bennett led a strong cast including Percy Morrison Wilbur Lauckhart Harold Whited Joe Le Compte Edna Swanson and others with Edna MacKinnon directing and Horton as business manager. The comedy's success promised another Friday performance.

Banks resources of Poultrymen to county show gain

Whatcom County banks outside Bellingham report total resources of 2,358,591.52 for April 28, up from February 21. Deposits by town include Blaine, Ferndale banks, Sumas, Lynden, and Nooksack with Lynden institutions showing the largest figures. A big meeting is scheduled for Saturday night.

Poultry Expert to Address Meetings in Whatcom County

W D Buchanan poultry specialist from State College of Washington will tour Whatcom County May 16 to 19. He speaks at Lynden High School Wednesday at 8 30 pm on proper housing and feeding of poultry. The schedule lists farms and venues across Birch Bay Ten Mile Woods Lynden and North Bellingham with 9 30 am and 1 30 pm sessions and 8 30 pm evening talks.

Glee Clubs to Sing Tuneful Operetta at Liberty Theatre

Lynden High School Glee Clubs directed by Miss Maud Tachell present The Gipsey Queen by Charles Hanson at the Liberty Theatre next Wednesday. Admission 25 and 15 cents. Cast includes Almeda Booman Rosalie Bernice Craig Fairy Queen Mertha Bostwick Chink-a-Link and many others. The operetta follows Rosalie’s capture by Gipsies her escape and return aided by Fairies. Lynden orchestra will perform between acts and seats are reserved at City Drug Store Saturday.

Lynden Nine to Meet Valley in First Game

Opening game of the Nooksack Valley Baseball League will be Sunday at the Fair Grounds with Lynden facing Valley at 2:00. Ferndale replaces Custer, will not play Everson opener but will make up with a doubleheader later. Olson and Baldwin to start as battery.

County commissioners reopen bids for the Delta road project after previous bidder Chris Knutzen forfeited a $2,700 deposit and admitted an error in his figures. New bids will be opened at 11 a.m. May 25.

Lynden High School hosts Open House Day with Queen Margaret Shagren and a royal scene on the Lynden lawn. Lynden Stage Burns After Explosion on Hannegan Road

The Martini Reo stage burned Sunday afternoon at the corner of Axton road after a gasoline explosion. Martini his wife and baby were aboard with Walter Gerlach the lone passenger. They were fixing a tire when the blast occurred. no injuries were reported and some insurance covered the car.

Declamatory Contest Winners Named in Lynden Event

Harriet Hood of Ferndale and O K Pike of Nooksack won group one in Lynden's declamatory contest held Saturday. In group two Anna Holmquist from Clearbrook and James Bromley of Sumas won, with Gwendolyn Wolfe of Greenwood placing second. Mr and Mrs Jack Kauffman have moved to a new bungalow at Edison and 6th.

Lynden Wins Meet by Very Tiny Margin at Fair Grounds

Lynden edges Blaine and Ferndale by a whisker to capture the county field meet with 50 points to Blaine 43 and Ferndale 40. Hanson of Blaine set a state high school record in the javelin with 157 feet 7 inches as Lynden wins the 880-yard relay and Haveman leads Lynden in multiple events.

Lynden Customs Inspector Confiscates Car

Customs Inspector Paul O. Dol stad seized a Chevrolet roadster suspected of carrying liquor. The Canadian occupants were turned over to authorities and the car is held at Robertson's garage. Earlier, Canadian inspectors seized an American car nearby and liquor packages were found afterward.
