Towns Rally for Fourth Fest in Lynden Parade Day

Residents of Sumas Everson Custer and surrounding districts plan to celebrate the Fourth in Lynden with a special train service and large parade bands. The event will end with a park program fireworks orchestrated by W H Waples. Local committees urge decoration and entry blocks for stands and autos while prize details and greased pig novelty are noted. Prosecutor Livesey counters immunity claims and pledges vigorous pursuit if Welty returns or is captured.

Lynden defeats Everson 9 to 7 in a delayed Sunday baseball contest. The rain slowed play and both teams argued at times as Lynden’s Hadley pitched and Steinhauer played behind the plate. Everson's lineup featured Nordstrom on the mound and Swaschkas in the at bats.

McPherson Golden Wedding Celebrated in Lynden Grove

Guests from Bellingham Blaine Ferndale Custer and Sumas gathered last Saturday for General M A McPherson and wife Golden Wedding toasts. Over 200 attended the feast and gifts included gold coins and numerous gold items. Lynden pioneers contributed a $75 gold purse. The couple longtime Northwest settlers were celebrated with speeches and recollections of railroading and politics the General once named Blaine and planned a vast enterprise before hard times. A long list of attendees from Lynden and surrounding towns attended the event.

Land sale closes for 40 acres near Lynden and another lot transfer

McCloud sells 40 acres northwest of Lynden to Gerse W Arnold and sons for 4709 dollars. The property includes 25 acres cleared and a seven room modern horse barn with accompanying personal property. A second sale transfers a corner lot at Grover and street to Charles Brown of Ferndale for 200 dollars.
