Destruction at Cle Elum Exploding Powder Kills Laborers
A massive blast at a mining site near Cle Elum Washington claims multiple lives. Twelve tons of giant powder on a hot platform, plus sixty tons in a box car, and other explosives within the magazine all detonated, flinging debris over a mile. Mrs. Peter Moffet perished and her children survived largely unscathed. The Moffats were longtime Lynden pioneers, leaving Northwood last spring to return this winter.

Legacy for Mrs Brenner From Cape Cod Heiress
Mrs Abbie Brenner inherits a Brewster Massachusetts legacy from cousin Mrs Olive C Winslow who died April 1908 at her Brewster home after a long life of service. Born 1827 in Brewster, she married Captain Willard Sears Higgins and later Elisha D Winslow of Boston. A Pilgrim club member and First Parish church benefactor, she donated generously while quiet acts of charity defined her life.

The M. W. A. Picnic Association has booked two full bands for a day trip one week from Saturday. A Bellingham excursion train arrives about 9 15 with a parade from the depot through Third and Front streets to the picnic grounds. Stage overturns after jump on Dupont Street in Lynden
Seventeen aboard when the Lynden stage veered off the Dupont street sidewalk near D Street last Sunday. Injuries ranged from serious to minor with Rev J E Williams and J R Crites among the injured. Cause traced to a heavy wire tangling the right front wheel. the engine and brakes failed to stop the plunge.
