Lynden defeated North Bellingham 3 2 at Hawley's Park and shut out the Lummi Indians 2 1 in North Bellingham. The team rode a late rally aided by Hickey Oltman Reed to secure a two game sweep as Brunswick from Bellingham loomed Friday. A large home crowd was hoped for to back Lynden.
In Tuesday night action Dean pitched superbly allowing four scattered hits six strikeouts and no walks Theel was hit and scored Reed posted a two bagger and Theel added a single Jefferson scored Lummi’s run came on an error Dean led off the second with a hit and Jefferson later scored on a second inning rally A return game is scheduled a week from Friday night Box score notes list two base hits by K Ander Reed Wampler and others with three base hits by Mohrman Baldwin and Kellner and Erickson Lewis and Rockey on base via walks or hits.
Independent Telephone Companies officers arrive for the two day state convention in Lynden with delegates from across the state. A banquet is hosted by Farmers Mutual Telephone Company at the I O O F hall and district tours precede the event. The program runs Thursday and Friday with talks on transmission aids, rate making, toll circuits and wage classifications.
Delta Township self binder owners met at Hoffman Hall Friday evening and adopted a season price of two dollars per acre. The action sets the rate for upcoming work and reflects local farming costs.
John C. Anderson, a Whatcom County pioneer with 37 years in the Lynden district, announced his bid for the Republican nomination in the Third District. A road and drainage expert, he stresses drainage fixes and road improvements to unlock farming land and boost the county road program. The Lynden district votes at the general election, not in primaries.

Lynden will host a professional auto race meet at Whatcom County Fair Grounds on Saturday July 24 under American Automobile Racing Association rules. Ten cars will compete with top Northwest drivers including George Lott arranging the event. If demand grows, a county fair racing meet may follow the horse program.
A Seattle bricklayers strike disrupts Lynden's new powdered milk plant work. The union and Master Builders clash over a five and a half day week, delaying tile delivery and forcing appeals to Lynden and Bellingham masons to continue the project.
J. W. Seat sold the Sixth and Front Street garage and home property to Sylvan Weidkamp, proprietor of the Service Garage. The two lots include a two story garage and a large Sixth Street house. The $6,000 transfer signals planned improvements to support Weidkamp’s automobile business and Overland agency in Lynden.
The complete list of eighth grade graduates announced today includes many students from districts 12, 28, 29, 30, 42, 53, 84, 309, 312, with numerous names such as Ralph Keller, Sylvia Hodgeman, Glen Watson, Alma Lyerson Peterson, Geo Buckley, Cherret Weeda, Otto Fullner, Joyce Bostwick, John Meyers, Anna Kuchenreuther, and others achieving honors across districts.
Lynden voters face a new rule requiring women to disclose their exact age when registering for elections. The measure aids jury duty and identification, with registration extended beyond July 15 to August 25 and again until October 13 after the primary. Foreign-born citizens must show naturalization papers at registration.
Extensive renovations at Lynden Christian School will greatly expand capacity. A large basement, two hot air furnaces, and a modern ventilation system are being installed while the roof is removed for a new flat top. A back addition will make the building square, with Ed Hoekstra in charge as contractors struggle with a bricklayers strike.
At the Lakeside WwW. C. T. U. meeting Miss Mamie Jacobs was chosen treasurer to fill the vacancy from Mrs. L A. Marchant's resignation. The next meeting is set for July 21 at Mrs. George Rothfuss's home.
Miss Hazel Lowrey sprained her wrist severely Monday after jumping from a wagon at her home. Doctors say she will be unable to use her arm for four weeks.
Community Club members discussed buying Hawley's Park in Lynden to serve as a permanent city park. The proposal, supported by its grove and ball grounds, would include playgrounds and maintenance funded by a city park board and a small levy. Owners W H Waples E Edson P M Serrurier and H H Jamieson currently hold the site.
Fire consumed the old log-house long occupied by L. D. Pangborn and sister Miss Olive Pangborn in Lynden district. Neighbors rushed to save belongings, but the structure was lost while contents were moved to safety. Aunt Ollie Pangborn’s century old home history and rough-life anecdotes accompany the loss. Miss Kate Harris visited Lynden this week.
The Lynden Chautauqua runs July 28 to August 3 with 21 events including one play 10 lectures and 10 musical numbers. Admission is 2.50 for most days 3.00 opening day 1.50 for students and 1.00 for children. Tickets available at Lynden stores and via guarantors directed by Harry Walters.
