Lynden Adopts Citywide House Numbering Ordinance

Lynden Washington town council approves Ordinance No. 183 requiring all homes and businesses to display numbers by July 15. The Water Superintendent will assign numbers starting at 100 with even numbers on the right and odd on the left and will maintain records. Violators face up to 10 dollars fine. costs may be billed to property owners and water may be shut off until paid.

Lynden Falls 4-3 to North Bellingham in six innings

Friday night at Hawley's Park Lynden lost to North Bellingham 4 to 3 in a six inning game that ended early due to darkness. Peters Hickey and Erickson led the visitors with key hits while Lynden's Rockey and Hickey produced moments of offense. Umpire Blaisdell presided as the game concluded after five and a half innings.

Tuberculin Test Signups Open in Lynden District

Special arrangements allow testing for any Lynden herd not yet signed up. Application blanks are at the Tribune office and those not yet registered are urged to sign immediately. The tester is at work in the district, making speed essential.

Whatcom County Drops Back to Third Class Status

Whatcom County is reclassified to the third class by Secretary of State I M Howell based on the 1920 census. Assistant Census Director W M Stewart notes full returns were incomplete. County salaries revert to $2250 for most officials, $2000 for commissioners, and $800 for the coroner. candidate filing fees are $10 or 1 percent of salary for higher offices.

Hot Weather Delays Lynden Train on Milwaukee Line

Severe delays hit the Lynden Chicago Milwaukee railway when extreme heat bent rails on the line forcing the train to return to Everson for a section crew to straighten the track. The incident narrowly avoided a serious accident as the train traversed the hot track at moderate speed. E A Livingstone Lynden agent had 25 crates of chickens awaiting shipment to Seattle. the voyage was postponed.

J. H. Henderson had a finger cut off Tuesday while sharpening a sickle at Rinehart's Blacksmith Shop. The Amphyction Club postpones its meeting due to hot weather.

Lively Topics Set for Lynden Community Club Session

The Lynden Community Club will discuss a two mill levy to fund a port district at Bellingham and river improvement on the Nooksack. The meeting at Lynden High School Monday night at eight will air pro and con on the port election, and all are invited.

Lynden approves $15 annual license for on street gas stations

Lynden City Council on a Friday night enacted Ordinance No 182 licensing pumps and devices selling gasoline oils and fluids in streets alleys or public places. The license costs 15 per pump and is due by August 1 each year with penalties for violations and must be displayed prominently.

Lynden Chautauqua Tickets Ready for Sale Campaign

Preparation for Lynden Chautauqua tickets underway with Harry Walters chairing the committee. Over a hundred ticket sellers signed on as the event runs July 28 through August 8 and season tickets remain at two dollars and fifty cents.

Whatcom County Farmers to Make Trip to Payallup

Whatcom County farmers plan a two day excursion from Bellingham on July 22 to the Western Washington Experiment Station. They will tour crops poultry and the new dairy barn in Seattle and at the station with explanations from staff. The trip aims to provide first hand farm information at low cost and is open to more participants.

Lynden Independence Day Picnic Features Local Parade

Lynden celebrated Independence Day with a quiet park picnic at Hawleys Park led by a small parade. The day included a band concert, prayers, speeches by Quirinus Breen and Rev. W. O. Benadom, a ball game, and children’s events with many local residents competing in races and contests.

The Camp Fire Girls plan a baking sale at Farmers Mercantile Company on Saturday afternoon.
