Allentown council meeting approves last minutes and bills. D. W. Bender presents semi annual town accounts ending June 30, 1908 showing balances, funds for Main and Front Street improvements, and licenses collected. No warrants outstanding as of July 1, 1908.
Wilson Plummer underwent above the knee amputation after a prolonged knee trouble and a fall worsened the injury. He was moved to hospital in Bellingham Monday and Tuesday and remains under care as Mrs. Wilson Plummer assists at home.
More than six hundred members of the Christian Reformed church gathered at Spaan's Park for a patriotic Fourth of July picnic. The program ran smoothly, TeSelle's canteen was popular, and attendees enjoyed jokes and light sports throughout recess and after. The article notes the event continued on page three.
A Wright County gathering of about 70 people celebrated Independence Day at George Handy’s home with a picnic dinner. Attendees included multiple Handy, Crabtree, Smith, Stuart, and other families. The Kensington Club met at Mrs. Fred Saxeur’s home with 14 members and light refreshments. future plans were noted.
A small group gathered at Mr. and Mrs. George Mruce's home for a Fourth of July picnic. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. George Juce, Mrs. Mary Jones, Wilder Jones, Peter Kergreff, Miss Myrtle Nichol, Miss Vera Nichols, and Clarence Nichols.
Members of the Baptist church gathered at Hawley Park on July 4 for a picnic. The event brought a happy day for those in attendance with a fine turnout and positive spirits.
Mission Society held a July 4 picnic at Jac kman Park with about 75 attendees enjoying a quiet gathering.

Jack Johnson handled a landed revolver in the Billiard Hall the night before the Fourth and it discharged. The shot struck Fred Fourtner in the knee. Dr. Mulder dressed the wound and said it is healing nicely with no complications expected.
Randill and Cross depart Monday from Lynden in their 26 foot sloop Spray for their seventh annual cruise among the islands of the Sound. They will head to a mining ground above the Lummi reservation then return to Birch Bay for help hauling the Spray home. The Heaton Shingle Mill resumes operations after a brief shutdown.
The Whatcom County M W A Picnic Association plans a Lyn den gathering on Saturday August 1st with Attorney Bixby as president printing the program and projecting 2000 attendees. The fraternal group will stage sports including a wrestling match in front of the grand stand and no admission charge to the grounds.
Erz and Beckes closed a sale this week making J B Litton of Spokane Washington owner of a 20 acre ranch near Booths Corners in Whatcom County. The price was 1600 dollars. S A Sutley bought a lot on East Front Street from Mrs Stark Swim Aldrich sold four lots to the Swim Aldrich addition to Mrs Martha Topping. Richard Scherer sold 30 acres river bottom land to George W Rider through the Swim Aldrich agency adjoining the Forbes ranch for 4000 dollars.
At their regular meeting last Monday evening the K P s installed officers to serve six months. Officers named include A H Frasier as Chan e Com, Wm Daniel as Vice CC, J W Daly Pref etal George Vinup Sergt at Arms, H Loring Outer Guard, W W Gaskill Outer Guard and Bakenhus Inner Guard among others.
The Baptist church Ladies Aid met at the parsonage last Wednesday with officers led by Mrs. W F Barnhart president and Mrs Green vice president. The group will meet again at Mrs. Barnhart on Grover St July 22 inviting all in sympathy to join. The Whatsoever Society will gather this week at Mrs. Washington Topping’s home.
D. W. Bender, city clerk, accepts the bookkeeper position at Roe & Van Leeuwen Lumber Co. The registration books will stay open at Baker and Taylor's real estate office with W. I. Baker in charge for the present.
On July 4 the Lynden Dramatic Company staged Above the Clouds at Jamieson’s Hall to a packed house. Director J B Gale earns praise for character make up as audiences demand a repeat performance soon. The cast features Kil Ringeld Alfred Thorp Amos Gaylord Jitus Turtle Nat Naylor poet Frank Knapp Curtis Chipman Hester Thorn Grace Ingalls Lucretia Gerrish Lynden will reprise the show at Jamieson’s Hall on July 16 with tickets at Edson’s Drug Store priced 35 25 and 15 cents.
Christian reform churches list multiple services each Sunday and midweek meetings. Mission Church offers 10 a m Sunday School and 11 a m preaching with 7 30 p m services. Baptist and other churches provide Sunday worship at 11 a m and 7 30 p m with midweek prayer and additional classes.
Ceclie Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Jacobs, married Harry Elmer Hutting of Raymond Washington at the Jacobs home. About 50 relatives attended as old shoes and many gifts were given, and the couple received best wishes for a long, prosperous life.
The Market lists prices offered to producers for delivery in town including fresh ranch eggs at 18 cents per dozen and butter at 18 cents for Branch and 30 cents for Creamery. Other items show hay at 12.50 and potatoes at 15.00 with varying steer bids.

Grand Rapids Michigan pastor Reverend D H Muyskens will conduct Sunday evening services at Kristian Reformed Church and deliver his English language sermon. All are invited to attend.
At the Methodist Episcopal church morning service the theme is Saul and the evening topic questions if we have sinned. Pastor A J Whitfield delivers the sermon while Rev Muyskens, a talented young minister, has received calls from four eastern locations including Oak Harbor and Chicago.
