State College of Washington to Offer Two Week Gas Engine Courses
In response to inquiries the State College of Washington will offer two weeks of instruction in gas engines gas tractors and automobiles from February 12 to February 24 if thirty applications are received by January 15. Morning lectures cover construction and operation while afternoons focus on hands on engine work. A $5 fee covers supplies. If enrollment is insufficient the fee will be refunded.

The Rev. Percy H. Davies has resigned as pastor of the Lynden Baptist Church effective in March. He has several offers under consideration but has not chosen his next field. During his two years, the church gained improvements including a new parsonage and classroom building and a renovated church and grounds.

Liquor Smuggling Probe Targets British Columbia Traffic
The Blaine Journal accuses a large liquor traffic from British Columbia into Whatcom County and urges Sheriff Wallace to curb it. Newt Larson pleaded guilty to smuggling liquor into the United States, paid a $50 fine, and was released after his car with whisky under its running boards was seized. P J McCracken received 45 days in jail and a $125 fine for maintaining a still.

Hemmi Mill Burns in Everson Valley Fire
A blaze destroyed the Hemmi Shingle Company mill and dry kiln in Everson Valley on Friday night. The loss includes the mill and shingles loaded kiln with only a small insurance coverage. The cause is unknown and rebuilding plans remain uncertain for Mr Hemmi. Mrs. E C Mott and Miss Constance Bicknell of Seattle returned home after visiting the Baptist parsonage during Christmas week.
