S H Bradley pioneer of the Lynden district died following a long tenure in the area. A large crowd attended the Friday service conducted by Rev Paul Ashby and burial rites were held by Lyndn Lodge of Knights of Pythias. Survived by wife Mrs Bradley and ten children, with a brother in Bucoda Washington. Affiliated with Knights of Pythias and the Fraternal Union.

Officers of Lynden's public library will be elected by patrons at 8 o'clock Monday in library rooms. The new board will serve during 1917. Despite limited funds the board has added many new books and the reading room remains very popular. Annual membership is one dollar for family use.

Humorist Farmer Editor Visits Lynden
T. J. O Day head of the printing department at Washington State College Pullman visited Lynden Monday. A retired farmer and editor he is famed as a witty speaker touring the state for the State College and the Bankers Farmers Week at Pullman this spring. Lynden Sunday School Journeys From Jerusalem Victory
The Lynden Sunday School of the Methauist Church returned from Jerusalem after beating Ferndale by miles in an attendance contest. Each pupil counted two miles toward the Palestine trip with new scholars adding ten miles toward the goal. The Lynden group finished with 12 615 miles, 2 615 beyond the needed total, while Ferndale trails by about 200 miles. Ferndale will finish the distance Sunday and both schools plan a return trip February 18.

Lyncen's fire department nears purchase of an auto fire truck after a pledges drive. About seven hundred dollars were pledged so far with three hundred more expected, committee head Walter Pisley said. Lynden town finances recorded a healthier year with current expense warrants $700 better, local improvement district warrants and bond accounts $3,500 stronger, assets $32,872.05 and liabilities $31,001.03, yielding a surplus of $871.03 plus $6,000 in tax money due. City Clerk R B Le Cocq prepared the report for submission to the State Bureau of Inspection.
