Lynden to Witness Championship Games

Lynden prepares to host Meridian in county championship contests for both boys and girls on Saturday night. The Lynden boys, led by Dunker at center and Meyers, Le Cocq or Bloom as forwards with Smith, Hatley or Wilson at guards, face Meridian, which features one of Laurel school’s best recent teams. The Lynden girls, champions of the north, meet Meridian, the southern champion, at 7 30 p m. Admission is 25c for students and 35c for adults.

Registration books close soon for spring township elections

Registration is underway for the spring township elections with Lynden Township first precinct appointing Mrs. G. W. Winup as registration officer and books open at her home for voters to sign up.

Lynden Store Sells $1000 Worth of Flour Fast

The Western Mercantile Company advertised in the Tribune an old price sale on flour and sold over $1000 worth by Saturday night. The store credits the Tribune for the sales record, noting no other announcement was made beyond the Tribune notice.

Funeral Services for John Jess Held at Knapp's Parlors

Friends gathered Sunday afternoon for the funeral of John Jess conducted by Rev. W. O. Benadom. Born in Prague Bohemia June 22 1850 he came to America at 20 and moved to Lynden 18 years ago from Nebraska. He is survived by his widow Frances eight daughters and three sons including Emil Val and Leo Jess.

Soprano and Lecturer to Appear in Lynden Friday

Berry acreage in Lynden district to be increased this spring

C M Creamer Lynden Cannery manager says a big rise in local berry acreage will occur this spring due to strong demand. He notes growers nationwide face plant shortages but Lynden expects to supply many patches as prices stay profitable. Cannery improvements aim to support what may be its biggest year yet.

Lynden Finances Show Surplus as Debt Cleared in 1919

Lynden reports a five thousand dollar financial gain in 1919 with all old indebtedness paid and cash balance rising to 13,216.31. The city now carries no interest-bearing warrants and earns interest on average cash, aided by water department improvements and higher on-hand funds.

Lynden Chosen Site for Whatcom Dairy Plant Sale

Lynden will host the Whatcom County Dairy Association plant after Lynden Creamery stockholders vote 72 to 38 to sell to the new organization. The deal values the creamery at 21 472.80 with plans for a powdered milk facility and future expansion starting March 1.

Lynden Community Club to Discuss Local Topics

Lynden's Community Club meets Monday evening at Lynden High School to consider local topics. A special committee reports on sidewalk petitions for 7th and 8th Streets and linking the two Lynden schools. The civic welfare panel will discuss a planned comfort station and the industrial committee will review the rural route situation.
