Skagit County Bows to Lynden Herds at Fair

Lynden breeders Vander Griend Brothers P Meenderinck and Gerrit De Graaff led the state’s top dairy entries at Skagit Fair winning multiple blue ribbons. Meenderinck’s nine Jerseys carried many firsts while Vander Griend’s Guernseys and De Graaff’s Milking Shorthorns earned top honors. The Lynden stock drew praise in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer report for quality across Jerseys Guernseys and aged bulls.

Superintendent to meet new Lynden students at high school

Superintendent William A. Fisher will be at Lynden high school Friday and Saturday August 27 and 28 from 1 to 5 p m to meet all new students. He will assist in selecting courses. Freshmen and transfer students are urged to attend as Lynden schools reopen Monday August 30.

Steinhauer Sells Harness and Shoe Shop to Custer Dealer

H. S. Steinhauer sold out his harness and shoe repair business this week to Leonard S. Piercey of Custer. Piercey has run a similar shop in Custer and will likely continue the work. The Steinhaurs plan a motor trip to California for the winter.

Cc. T. Hall caught his left hand in a cog of an ensilage cutter on Wednesday and lost the tips of a couple of fingers. Lynn Brown and Robert Bowles left Wednesday for Vancouver to attend the Elks Lodge convention. Peter Moffat is a guest at the Leslie Frasier home.

Camp Fire Girls Enjoy Gating at Birch Bay

Seven Kulshar Camp Fire Girls with Guardian Miss Esta Hickey return from Birch Bay after a few days of camping. They hike four miles around the bay with Anne Kampen and Evelyn Dunker joining, learn to set up tents, earn honors, and two girls win the Fire Maker dinner honor. Parents visited on Sunday.

Lynden plans a bigger season in 1921 after a strong year. Captain Ernest Dean says Lynden hopes to join the Twilight League next year and can compete with more support from local fans. Lynden closes its season with a final game against Sumas on Sunday, with locals planning to attend.
