Lynden to Host Everson in Big Next-Week Poultry Meet

Lynden and Everson prep for a highly anticipated game at the Fair Grounds with Lynden aiming for a fourth straight win. The clash features added Bellingham players on Everson and is set for 2 PM Sunday after Lynden’s 18 to 4 loss to Ferndale last Friday.

Lynden Citizens Urged to Aid Children’s Home Drive

Local residents urged to support the Washington Children's Home Society. Dr George A Sheafe and Rev L J Covington spoke in Lynden churches about aiding eight Lynden children and 160 from Whatcom County since 1917. Subscriptions may be left at First National or Peoples State Bank.

Butter And Milk Prices Rise For Local Dairymen

Butter rose two cents to 44 cents a pound and milk gained to 1.80 dollars per hundred pounds. Lynden dairy producers welcomed the uptick though costs remain higher than the selling price.

Dairymen Plan Meeting and Plant Expansion in Whatcom County

Whatcom County Dairymen's Association will meet August 27 at their hall in Bellingham. The Bellingham plant has been enlarged to 30,000 pounds of milk daily, churning 2,000 pounds of butter. through the first half of 1921 nearly one million pounds of butter were produced in Lynden and Bellingham. the next six months will exceed that total. Manager Davis notes strong demand for powdered milk and rising by product prices. Also: Mae De Valois, Antoinette De Jong, Earl Handy, and Mrs. J Dykema are named with illnesses or injuries.

The Tribune Want-Ads report two small farms near Lyn Den sold this week as buyers advertise for rural properties. The local real estate market shows activity with new families moving in this summer and fall, and a cheap want-ad may attract buyers.

Lynden Bull Grand Champion at Burlington Fair

Sunlight's Chief the Lynden bull took grand champion honors at the Skagit County Fair in Burlington last week. He is the sire of Peter Meenderinck's Jersey herd and drew wide attention as a feature of the show. Meenderinck earned senior and junior herd honors in Jersey, while St Mawes Susie of Lynden won senior heifer calf class.

Mrs J B Bruce hosted visitors from Booth Corners while William Mills Roy King of Vancouver stay with Rupert Hadley and others attended dinners with Clarke and Baldwin families. Sudden Death Claims Lynden Man at Department Store

Lyle Parks Jacobs 40, formerly of Bellingham, died of heart trouble after collapsing beside a radiator in the Lynden Department Store. He worked for Imperial Fir Lumber Co and is survived by his widow Mattie. Funeral held in Bellingham. A county cattle testing program for tuberculosis was announced by H B Carroll Jr, with Dr Howard arriving to test all herds showing at the county fair.

Last Services Held for Mrs. Elizabeth Keidel

A large crowd attended funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Keidel at the G. A. R. Hall. She died Friday at her Lynden area home. Rev. Smith led the service. Survived by husband J. W. Keidel and three children including a four year old and twin boys fifteen months old.

Lynden Schools Plan Economy Driven Admissions and Courses

The Lynden School District, opening next week, will admit only in district students and reduce staff to fit the budget. High school offerings change with no physics, world history replacing history, and advanced Spanish. chemistry open to juniors and seniors. Rice penmanship adopted. Amanda Nessen starts fourth grade. Farm Advertising Boosted Strawberry Crop Sales in Thurston County

County Agent E. B. Stoskey with the Chamber of Commerce and Farm Bureau led a strawberry week campaign with half page ads and front page headlines. The effort encouraged canning by residents, saved farmers from potential bankruptcy, and aided other districts like Olalla valley where 1500 crates were packed in a day by home canners.
