The Lynden Boy Scout movement opened with 37 scouts enrolled at a high school gym meeting. Patrol leaders and assistants planned the season with Rev. W. O. Benadom, scout master, to enable quick tests for camping eligibility. Boys over twelve are invited to join and will be admitted by vote after tonight’s meeting.

Civil War veteran John H. Smith dies at 87 in Lynden
John H. Smith, a Civil War veteran born September 11, 1832 in Indiana, died at his Lynden home after old age and heart trouble. He served in the 20th Wisconsin Volunteers, was wounded three times, and fought in four battles. He leaves three daughters, one brother, a sister, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. G A R services were held in Knapp's parlors with burial in Lynden cemetery.
