Paderewski Dies at 80 After Illness in New York
Ignace Jan Paderewski, eighty, famed pianist and first president of Poland, died Sunday night in the Hotel Buckingham after a two day illness of pneumonia. He had continued public appearances to aid starving countrymen despite a cold and doctors orders. His sister Mme Antonina Wikowska, Dr Asa L Lincoln, and aide Sylvian Starackacz were with him.

Vernon MacDonald, 17, of Ludington, remained in grave condition after being struck by a car Friday night on US-10 about six miles east of Ludington. He had been unconscious since the crash and was described as holding his own by attending physicians. The driver, Herbert Born, 22, of 701 North Delia Street, was unidentified by the sheriff's office Saturday.
