A jury in the Ingham County Circuit Court found Dr. Ronald B. Clark guilty of manslaughter in the death of Grace Neil 43 Livonia who allegedly overdosed on sodium pentathol. Sentencing set for July 18. Clark plans an appeal.
Detroit unions reach tentative contracts with The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press ending the 227 day blackout. Five unions accepted a $33 wage package over 34 percent of the pact life. mailers have not agreed. Meetings begin for ratification while editors and janitors plan sessions with publishers.
Sirhan B. Sirhan won a three week delay before entering a plea in the Kennedy assassination case. Judge Schaver ordered a psychiatric exam to be conducted by Dr. George Abe with results to be kept confidential. Attorney Parsons seeks insanity as a defense and Sirhan is to be visited by his mother.
Ludington police investigate a breaking and entering at the local lifeguard tower. Two walkie talkies and two rain coats were stolen. one coat was found later. The door lock had been pried open.
CASEVILLE Michigan UPI Two brothers Bell Mc Namara eleven and Mike six were lost for thirteen hours near Sleep er State Park at the northern end of Michigan's Thumb. They were muddy hungry and mosquito bitten when found this morning and asked for roast marshmallows. They had wandered from their family campsite Friday afternoon and were returned to the Bad Axe State Police post.
President Johnson signed a 10 percent tax hike after an 18 month fight with Congress. Higher withholding begins July 15. the measure affects 82 million of 98 million taxpayers and many corporations. Some workers earning under set limits are exempt. The change retroactively boosts April to mid July pay deductions and dates future payments to 1968 and 1969.
Gov. George Romney warned Michigan conservationists that a $435 million clear water and recreation bond issue on November’s ballot faces about a one million vote handicap due to distaste for bond elections. He urged MUCC members to persuade voters of the bonds’ necessity to protect natural beauty and resources.
Local law enforcement seeks Pete Zaragosa a 24 year old man in Saginaw on murder charges. He is 5 10 with brown eyes black hair and arm tattoos. Possible vehicles include a 1968 Mustang Texas HDG877 or a 1960 Pontiac Michigan LR8943. May be in Bear Lake area.
A trash fire in an outside storage area at Atkinson's Manufacturing Co. was reported at 2 a.m. The Ludington fire department arrived promptly and extinguished the blaze without causing any damage to the property.
Laos Premier Prince Souvanna Phouma urged that North Vietnamese troops be withdrawn from Laos before any bombing halt ends. He said the negotiations should cover a Laos withdrawal and a cease fire, framing the Laotian demand as a key condition in the Paris talks.

The NMU broke off talks with two major management groups and pledged support from ship officers unions. The action, not expected to affect military cargo, targets American flagships in U S ports while foreign-port ships avoid strike impact.
