Master Mason Witness Rites Held at Local Lodge
Two hundred fifty Master Masons gathered at the local Masonic temple Friday evening for the conferring of the Master Mason degree at 8 30. The event opened with a chicken dinner in the temple dining room and featured music by Shorty and his Montana Ramblers. George Hansen welcomed the visiting brethren as James Rohrmoser Alfred Stadler A B Holt and Harvey Schultz received the degree with ceremony by Montague and Muskegon lodges. Visitors came from Manistee Baldwin Pentwater Hart Montague Lansing and Muskegon lodges. The summer season’s active work concluded with this ceremony and the lodge will adjourn until early fall.

Lakeview Bunco members met at Mrs. Nick Miller home at Creamery Corners on Wednesday. Three bunco tables awarded high prize to Mrs. Herbert Engfer and low to Mrs. William Anderson. Hostess served refreshments and plans for a July 2 potluck at Ludington State Park were announced. Todd Michels Nuptials Read In St Marys Kingsley
Miss Doris Irene Todd daughter of Mr and Mrs Claude Todd and Earl Francis Michels son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Michels married at St Marys Roman Catholic church near Kingsley. Rev Louis Flohe officiated the Nuptial High Mass with Miss Florence Tithor as maid of honor and Clifford Michels as best man. The bride wore white satin princess gown with lace edged veil and pearls, while Miss Tithor wore azure blue taffeta. A wedding breakfast followed at the bride’s parents home for 35 relatives and friends before a reception at the community hall in Buckley. The couple left for a short wedding trip and will reside on the Michels farm near Kingsley. Out of town guests included Magnusen Brodrick Michels and Wilacker families.

Mason County Garden Club Tours Two Gardens
Twenty five members of the Mason County Garden club enjoyed a Thursday afternoon tour of two gardens. They gathered at Mrs. Joseph Sahlmark Sr. residence then visited J B Randall’s south of Scottville and Mrs. Randall’s oil paintings and crafts were shown. A second stop at Mrs. W G Alway’s Scottville garden followed before tea at Ludington First Methodist Church. The group plans a county wide ragweed drive this summer with Mrs. J L Boone as chair.
