In the past 24 hours sheriff's deputies and city police logged five accidents with two injuries. Minnie Smith, 69, of Muskegon treated after a 4:35 p.m. crash at Chauvet and Inman Roads when Paula Jean Mitter of Hart turned left into William Deephouse's car. A Scottville youth, Steven A. Garman, 13, treated after a private-property crash near Meisenheimer and Schwass Roads. Darlene L. Craig and Alison Wood involved in another collision at Filer and Rowe Streets. James F. Heglund reported his parked car struck on Ludington Avenue and James Street. A Washington Avenue and First Street crash caused minor damage. Leonard Chansler’s parked car was rear‑ended by Joseph C. May, who left the scene.

DNR Plans Land Swap With Consumers Power
LANSING The Department of Natural Resources will vote July 13 14 on a land exchange with Consumers Power Co to gain 2 8 miles of Au Sable River frontage below Mio and 950 acres of adjoining lands. The deal would pair the state frontage with a 60 mile cross county forest strip for a proposed high voltage line while preserving public access rights and wilderness values with planned eventual transfer to the U S Forest Service in Huron National Forest.
