A fisherman on Pere Marquette Lake was saved by yacht Scapha owner Harold Miedema who alerted Coast Guardsmen at 7:40 p.m. The 14-foot aluminum boat capsized near the Dow docks. Edward H. Anderson of 709 Fifth St. was pulled from the water using a life cushion and towed ashore by Coast Guardsmen.
