Truck Exhaust Sparks Evening Wrecks in Two Counties
Seven people suffered minor injuries in a two car collision on US-31 near Kinney Road when exhaust smoke from a semi truck blocked visibility. Drivers John Fisher and Robert Rischar reported the cause. no tickets were issued. Multiple other minor incidents followed including a car boat trailer collision, a gravel related spinout, a deer collision, and two parked car strikes with one driver charged for leaving the scene.

Tax Expert Gets Three Years For Phony Returns
U S Attorney said the Supreme Court refused to review Mary McKee's case. McKee operated a tax service in Ypsilanti and was convicted in 1970 on 15 counts for preparing false federal returns. Judge Thornton sentenced her to three years, with three months for psychiatric testing, and denied a new trial in 1971. The government says over $700,000 in additional taxes and penalties were recovered.
