Four new teachers greet Scottville school next September
Scottville school will welcome four new teachers next September. Bertha Pollitt from Lansing will teach high school English, Ruth Osterhaus from Michigan State will teach history, Osterinaus’ home is Newaygo and Central State graduate Audrey McLachlan will lead grades two and three, Velma Corwin of Cadillac will handle kindergarten and first grade.

Picnics and parties closed the school year with a festive day at the gym. Fifth and sixth graders enjoyed decorations, clever place cards by Margaret Cook, and a spontaneous junior band. Picnic at Star Lake Brings Students and Parents Together
Episcopal church donated for indoor use due to stormy weather. A lunch followed the games with Miss Schulte treating children to ice cream cones. Mothers helped serve. many enjoyed games in the social rooms. The Star Lake picnic included high school members, faculty, and parents with boating, bathing, and a hearty dinner.

The Woman's Foreign Missionary Society held a memorial service Thursday for Mrs. Randall Filley, a leading worker and longtime head of the Little Light Bearers. Ohio Professor Slaying Suspect Identified at Rifle Range
A graduate student and a university research worker were questioned after the death of Miss Hix whose battered body was found on a rifle range near here. Dr. Snook, former pistol shooting world record holder, was taken into custody at the rifle range for further questioning as authorities pursue the case.
Fraternity member questioned in death inquiry
A man at the fraternity house near the undertaking establishment was questioned after Miss Hix was found dead. Coroner James Murphy spoke with the scene’s aides and Miss Hix’s friends recalled a man matching Myers described recently with her. Myers said he was at the fraternity all night Thursday, except a brief mail stop, and said friendship with Miss Hix had cooled two years earlier. Dr Snook, arrested while at a rifle range, wore a bandaged left hand claiming auto repair work injured him.
