Carpenters Okay Pact In Alpena Area
The North west District Council of Carpenters narrowly approved a two year contract with the Northwest Michigan Contractors Association ending a seven week strike that halted more than 15 million dollars of projects. The deal raises pay 90 cents an hour with 50 cents in year one, boosting base pay plus fringe benefits to 5.69 dollars per hour for about 500 members across 21 counties.
