Youth Dies After Motorcycle Car Collision in Ludington
Eighteen year old Keith Allen Daugherty of Ludington died instantly at 9 30 p m Saturday when his motorcycle crashed head on with a car driven by Russell E Hinton of Flint. The accident occurred as the motorcycle struck a rear fender then flew into the oncoming lane and was struck by the Hinton auto. Funeral services set for 2 p m Tuesday at Rye Funeral Home. He was born October 12 1949 in Ludington and a Ludington High School graduate. He leaves his mother Frances Daugherty three brothers Joseph Curtis Dan and a sister Verna Jean plus two grandmothers and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father in July 1965.

Murder May Be Revenge for Kennedy in Chicago
Aaron Myers 19 was arrested at a South Side service station and charged with the murder of Abder Rayyan 55 a Jordanian grocer shot twice in the head in a Saturday night slaying police say the killing may be linked to vows of revenge for Senator Robert F. Kennedy’s death. Rayyan’s former wife Islamic practicing Negro attended his wake and said the motive remains unconfirmed while witnesses described two armed men entering the store and targeting the grocer.

LANSING UPI Legislators back a bill to reaffirm a 1967 law extending incumbent township officers terms by 18 months to November 20, 1970. The 1963 constitution shifts offices to November after elections, eliminating a five month lame duck. Judge Beer previously ruled the measure unconstitutional for denying run rights, prompting the Legislature to pass the reaffirming bill while trimming a provision about trustees elected in 1964.

Jimmy Brown Charged With Intent To Commit Murder
Los Angeles police arrested former football star Jimmy Brown after neighbors reported a fight. Brown, 32, a Cleveland Browns great, was booked on suspicion of assault with intent to commit murder and battery against an officer after a confrontation inside his apartment. A young woman was found seriously injured on a patio below, with injuries described as dislocated shoulder and minor head wounds. Bail was set at 12500 dollars and arraignment is scheduled for June 13.

Youth Found Not Guilty By Jury Here
Gary Peterson, 18, of Ludington, was found not guilty of enticing a minor to commit an act of indecency after a circuit court trial last week. The jury deliberated about an hour, bringing in the verdict at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Peterson was charged following the arrest of nine youths on April 29, two of whom were minors, with prosecutors and defense counsel calling numerous witnesses over a two day trial.

Missing Plane Hunted Near Roscommon
DETROIT UP I An air and land search for a single engine plane with two aboard missing since Friday resumed across the Lower Peninsula. About 65 aircraft including Civil Air Patrol craft and conservation fire patrol planes combed the Roscommon area after a resident reported seeing a fireball. The plane was last seen leaving Bellaire for Bert Airport near Detroit with Harry Kitchener 25 and Frank Tweedale 24 of Troy on board. The 250 mile flight turned back when they discharged two passengers. Gunfire practice at a Grayling National Guard range briefly hampered the search.

GRAND RAPIDS UPD Larry Washington 34 editor of Muskegon Heights Times is in FBI custody as an alleged parole violator in Washington. Arrested as Lawrence A Baker the alias Larry Washington. Washington denied being the man named in the warrant but FBI says he is Baker. He faces a Parole Board hearing to determine parole violation. He started publishing the weekly newspaper a year ago and has been active in local politics and in the Michigan Conference of Concerned Democrats.

Funeral Train Passes Throngs Through Washington Night
UPI reports a vast throng gathered along the New York Washington corridor as Robert Kennedy’s funeral train and cortege reached Union Station and the Lincoln Memorial. The crowd in industrial districts and on city streets exceeded expectations as mourners, including Resurrection City supporters, offered flowers and prayers. The gravesite was described as temporary pending a permanent monument and location.
