Memorial services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church in Fountain with Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges from Scottville Custer and Fountain. Rev C A Lemon of Ludington gave the address as a Scottville male quartet rendered hymns. He spoke on honoring those who passed and the guiding principles of love and sacrifice in lodge life. The service closed with Rock of Ages.
SCOTTVILLE Michigan June edition reports Charles Myles and daughter Josephine and Thelma left Monday for Fort Wayne Indiana to establish a home. They held a sale of their household goods at their home Saturday. Josephine Myles, a noted county teacher, has planned a social celebration in honor of her achievements at the Wiley school district where she has taught two years. A chest of 26 pieces of silver was presented to her by Frances Appleton with a short program. Neighbors from north Casher joined at the Sherburn home for the event. The family will stay in Fort Wayne until Josephine completes business studies at Anthony Wayne Institute. A Willing Workers meeting at the Orve Pittard home featured lessons by Ates W Padelford and others and included a Pyrex ware gift to Mrs Gravitter who is moving to Muskegon. Parish picnic plans were discussed at the St Helene society meeting chaired by Mrs Halliday.
Lake school in Lake County Michigan closed a term with a picnic for pupils and parents. A noon dinner followed by races for all ages, won by local children including John Tartarchuch, Millie Vasieck, Harlan Cole, Pauline Vasieck, Mike Johnson, Caroline Vasieck, and Pearl Vasieck. A school boys' ball game after races ended with the school team victorious.
Clifford Conrad surprised his parents Mr and Mrs John Conrad with a 10 day visit over the weekend while Mr Conrad, an agricultural teacher and athletic coach at Berrien Springs, is re engaged for next year with a higher salary. Guests at the Conrad home included Mr and Mrs W I Miller and daughter Dorathy of Sugar Grove, August Miller and daughter Mrs John Fox and Frank Miller and daughter Grace. J R Nicely visited Ann Arbor for medical treatment at University Hospital. Lois Curtiss is ill with chicken pox. The Methodist Episcopal Sunday school plans a parade Saturday afternoon with a 3 o clock meeting and a 3 30 start. Banners and preparations are underway. Mrs Edna Clemens of Renton Harbor is home to visit her parents Mr and Mrs George Crampton. Ralph Nicely was home several days last week. Wienore Spalding spent the weekend with Isther Haalr.

A Saturday birthday gathering in Southeast Grant featured dancing with Concordina music by Paul Wahr and Otto Battige. Attendees included numerous local families and friends, a luncheon at midnight, and a supper at 6 o’clock with potato salad baked beans and pie.
Round Jake Saturday evening dance attendees include Miss Birdie Close and Mrs Will Parkee. Scottville residents report visitors, house wiring for electricity, and ongoing farm life notes. Eighth graders Garrett Voorhees and Ruby Voorhees plus others received diplomas in Tronga school. families visit Hamlin and Maywood areas amid cemetery services and local events.
Irons A C Johnson and Morton Johnson purchased new cars. The report notes regular service activity held at Union Sunday school, Sunday.
Mr and Mrs Theodore Woebbeking hosted a Saturday party in Grant Township for their son Freds 21st birthday. Guests shared baskets of treats and a roast dinner with sandwiches cake and coffee. Dancing followed as neighbors and relatives offered best wishes for many more birthdays.
