St Simon high school will hold commencement for 26 graduates in St Simon's church on Sunday evening. Miss Kathryn Keating will play the processional. The address is by Rt Rev Thomas Noa, D D rector of St Joseph seminary Grand Rapids. Diplomas and awards presented by Rev Leo Toohey. Among awards are general excellence and several scholarships. Class includes valedictorian Margaret Rogers and co salutatorians Florence Antzack and Richard Kennedy.

NCCW meeting in Manistee draws 125 officials
About 125 official representatives and study club members from the Manistee Mason Lake unit of the Grand Rapids Diocesan Council of the National Council of Catholic Women attended a Sunday afternoon meeting at the Knights of Columbus hall. Presiding were Mrs. F W Briske and diocesan leaders. Priests led opening prayers and spoke on unity against communism and Nazism.

Baccalaureate Service for Ludington Class of 1941
Impressive baccalaureate services will honor Ludington High School’s 136 graduates, the second largest class in school history, at 8 p.m. Sunday in Oriole hall. The Ludington High School orchestra, directed by Louis F Peterson, will lead the procession. Local churches cancelled regular Sunday services. Emanuel Lutheran choir, led by Dagny Hansen, performs Open Our Eyes and The Lord's Prayer with soloist Martin Johnson. Rev. Paul Haskell Clark will read Scripture, Rev. Erling Edverson offers prayers, and Haydn’s The Heavens Are Tellings is performed by the choir with a small trio. Rev. J. A. Landin will preach, and the benediction will be by Rev. Arvid Norton. The service concludes with Holy Holy Holy and the recessional. Commencement is set for Thursday evening, June 12.

Troop 6 Overnight Hike At Smerson Lake
Boy Scout Troop 6 led by scoutmaster Robert L. Weir spent a weekend hike at Smerson Lake with eight scouts. They set up five tents, cooked stew, and engaged in hiking, nature study, and campfire stunts. They also caught a baby starling and two blue racers for belts.

Sympathy in Freesoil for John Soltes in fatal accident
Sympathy extends to the bereaved Soltes family after John Soltes, longtime Freesoil resident and Chicago promoter, died in a car crash near Saugatuck while returning from a visit to Freesoil.
