Holiday Traffic Sparks Mason County Accident Spike
Heavy holiday traffic in Mason County prompted a series of accidents reported by the Mason County Sheriff's Department and Ludington Police. Incidents included a three car collision on U.S. 31 at U.S. 10, a two vehicle crash on U.S. 31 at Conrad Road, a tree collision on Barothy Road, and additional mishaps on Free Soil Road and Ludington State Park. One hit and run occurred at Memorial Hospital parking lot and a parked car rolled at Lake View Cemetery, causing minor damage.

Dies Sunday Rites Set for Mrs. Roy Rathbun
Mrs. Shirley Thiele Rathbun, 46, of Eden Township Route 1 in Custer, died Sunday after five months of illness. Born December 22, 1925 in Chicago, she lived in Traverse City since 1932 and Muskegon since 1950. She married Roy Rathbun on September 27, 1957 in Muskegon. Survived by widower, one brother Edmund of Muskegon, and seven nephews. Funeral services planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stephens Chapel.

Installation of Officers of Ludington Aerie 1354 Fraternal Order of Eagles was held Saturday night in Eagles Lodge. Prime rib dinner was served in the club dining room with invocation by Jack McDonald worthy president. Corsages and boutonnieres were presented to candidates and their wives by retiring president Jack McDonald and Mrs McDonald. William Nephew and Mrs Donald Rutowski led dinner. Leonard Johnson chaired the serving with Mrs Johnson and others assisting.
