Sheriff Investigates Multiple Breakings in Area

Boy Gulps Pet Turtle in Utah Toddlers Big Appetite

Brad Haines a two year old in Bountiful Utah swallowed a dime store turtle Myrtle causing two sleepless nights and a $400 medical headache. Doctors reported the turtle moved through his system from intestines to stomach and later vanished from X rays prompting a possible operation postponed to early next week. The child’s mother said the creature is likely to have costs and that his appetite has previously included rocks dirt and insects.

No Definite Clue In Search For Nuclear Sub Scorpion

The largest sea search in Navy history entered its sixth day with officials reporting no definite clue to the Scorpion's whereabouts. Deep Diver and ADS diving systems were airlifted to the Azores as four search lines span mountains, depths, and a Norfolk approach lane. A WW II sub hull was found 70 miles off Virginia in 180 feet of water, but no link to the Scorpion emerged.

Invasion of Saigon Heats Up As Viet Cong Clash

UPI reports Allied forces fight house to house against at least 1000 Viet Cong during a third Saigon invasion in five months. About 500 guerrillas killed since infiltrators entered Saigon six days ago, with major combat in two sectors including a 10 block area in Cholon. South Vietnamese freed two U.S. Marines captured near Hue. U.S. jets and artillery hit two Soviet-made 100mm guns south of North Vietnam.

Traffic Toll Well Below Last Year's Record 608

Michigan saw at least 15 dead in traffic as Memorial Day weekend opened, with national toll well below last year’s 608 deaths. Two children died in separate accidents near home, plus a 21-year-old man in Manistee County. Five drowned in Michigan waters. nationwide toll reached 268 by 9 a.m. EDT.
