Mrs Claude Renwick of Bachelor died Thursday after a short illness. Born in Niceraau she lived in Muskegon seventy years before returning to the farm. Survived by husband five children and her parents plus sisters. Funeral at Bachelor church Saturday at 2 pm CST with Rev Fred Stewart officiating.
Rev. Glen Hail of Holland is to start in Scottville Evangelical church this Friday with services planned including Sunday school at 1, morning service at 11, and evening service at 7:90. Rev. Bull recently appointed to this charge. Methodist Episcopal Rev. E. L. Sutcliffe, Pastor. Free Methodist Rev. A. G. Burley, Pastor. Scottville locals note visits and gatherings of Fay Miller, the Miller and Barton families, and trips by Cox and others to council meetings, Muskegon, Albion, and Detroit. Bethlehem Church reports Miss Benz reengaged and school year end picnic and games. German service at Bethlehem with Holy Communion.
The Jones School, Riverton Two, defeated Summit 26 to 1 Sunday in a baseball game. Jones plans to play Cway settlement on June 1, aiming to have home games ready with new uniforms in gray and green.
It is with deep regret that the correspondent records the death of J R Swan of Chicago a long time summer resident of Bass lake. Sympathy is offered to his widow Mrs Swan Theo Schlick and Arthur Morrison are in critical condition in Chicago hospitals with little hope for Mr Schlick. Mrs S C Noyer and niece Hazel Noyer have returned from a short Chicago trip. Mrs Hubert Malchin visited R Finch cottage Wednesday. Mrs R Finch has arrived for the season. Mr and Mrs Harry Hillman Sr entertained at dinner Wednesday with guests including Mr and Mrs Roy White Mr and Mrs James Jensen Mr and Mrs Howard Merritt and daughter Edith of Summit visiting the Noyer Molchin and Tore cottages. Mr and Mrs Levi McClatchie and sons of Summit visited Bass lake Wednesday evening.

A Sunday pinochle party at the diverge Dufon home near Freesoil drew ten tables. Winners were Mrs. Julia Olenbaak and Frank Shrani ski. low scores went to Miss Victoria Gumbus and George Dufon. Visitors included Muskegon and Chicago guests. local residents hosted and shared sandwiches and cake. Many relatives visited and traveled, with Rev. L A Czapran and others returning home after weekend visits.

Grand Rapids guests Mr and Mrs Neley G Nelson and Muskegon Memorial guests Mr and Mrs John Baker attended local social gatherings. Several Ludington Scottville and Whitehall residents spent time with families here and elsewhere, with junior senior banquet at Scottville noted.
Inett of Freesoil and Mr and Mrs Paul Schoenherr and family visited relatives in Ludington on Wednesday. Louis Merrill of Baldwin was in Fountain on business Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Frank Behtain of Grawn returned home after a weekend visit at the Harnden home. Mrs Bert Sterling of Battle Creek and Mrs Maud Rosenow of Pelton’s Corners called on the Alfred Sterling home Tuesday. Wim Rohrmoser of Scottville and Herman Hansen hosted visitors Tuesday. Wilfrid Cryderman employed in Muskegon visited his parents in Fountain Sunday. F A Owen and family hosted Lawrence Owen and children of Grand Rapids Tuesday and Wednesday. B P Harmen did business at Baldwin Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Richard Jenks and family visited relatives in Scottville Sunday.
In Free Soil Michigan on Memorial Day M F Rozell aged 80 the town's only surviving Civil War veteran attended the services. He was helped to the platform as memories brought back Civil War days when nearly forty veterans marched to decorate graves. Floyd Wolfe a Philippines veteran also attended the program.
The cemetery showed labor and care by Freesoil residents honoring early pioneers and three wars. Veterans from Battle Creek Muske gon Ludington Grand Rapids and other places attended the services as flags marked their graves. Radio Sunday schedules listed programs on Blue Red networks with musical segments and the Major Bowes program.
A fragmented radio schedule notes WEAF WWJ and WGN networks with Collier's hour at 7 16 and Atwater Kent hour at 8 15 on the Blue and Red networks and references to the Blue Network WEAF WWJ WGN in the listing.
Mr and Mrs William Dedlow of Ludington will give a program Saturday evening at Mason Grange hall in Summit township. The program aims to entertain and inform the audience about local interests and community topics.
Detroit directors of the Republican club announced Fred L. Woodworth collector of internal revenue as a draft candidate for lieutenant governor with the slogan A Detroit lieutenant governor for 1929. A gram of songs will be part of the program and a pot-luck supper will follow. the public is invited.
