Fern School Christmas Exercises Delight Pupils and Guests
The Fern School staged a festive Christmas program on December 22 with a candlelit fireplace centerpiece, student stockings, and decorations. Misses Ellen Benson and Josephine Martin led the show featuring "Dance of the Moonbeams" by 10 girls in crepe paper gowns, Velma Rathbun’s piano solo, and the two act play "Christmas at Stebbins" with humorous roles by Clyde DeHoff and Inez Huddleston. Cast members included Donald Rathbun as Santa’s believer, Leonard Oleson as the rich suitor, Marion Matthews as another, and George Anderson and Martha Miller as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Santa, played by Joseph Bedker, handed out presents. Edgar Stuart arrived from Chicago for a week, and local residents Mr. and Mrs. Sigurd Hansen hosted Sunday dinner. Other Ludington visitors included Mr. and Mrs. Chas Talquist and Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Bushaw on Monday.
