Boy Drowns In River Near Stearns Plant
Seven year old Ralph Bardick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bardick of Chicago, was drowned in a canal near the Stearns Motor Mie plant while playing with his sister. Bystanders and workers watched in alarm as the child fell from a pier and disappeared beneath the water. Eyewitnesses recalled the moment and hurried to inform Ralph’s mother and relatives as rescue efforts began. The tragedy was linked to the nearby construction and river edge activities.
