Warrant issued for his wife Minnie on a murder theory after witnesses noted poisoning signs and a chemist reported arsenic crystals in stomach organs. The state s theory suspects tea at a supper as the poison. Preliminary hearing postponed two weeks for further investigation.

Eden R. Clawson of Lodi, New York, was identified posthumously after a youth, calling himself Fred Jordan, confessed to his murder in Garden City Kansas. Clawson’s body was found four miles west of LaMonte Missouri with travelers checks totaling 350 dollars and letters on clothing aiding identification. The Garden City suspect, Everett Adams son of Wilmington Delaware police officer Henry Adams, is linked to the Jordan alias through the confession and police records.
U S customs officials plan strict patrols to curb liquor smuggling as they take over duties from prohibition forces. Carey Ferguson, collector, said the new unit will require time to build an enforcement machine, aiming to make smuggling unprofitable and secure full cooperation from federal agents.
A lightning strike at the Big Point ammunition depot near Norfolk Hamp ton Roads ignited a large storage warehouse holding shells and grenades. Portsmouth fire crews and a fireboat battled the blaze. no injuries were reported as of nightfall, though official details were limited.

WAST LANSING Mich Aug 12 AAPI-D A Seeley meteorologist at Michigan State College issued the weekly summary of weather and crop conditions for the week ending Aug 11. Drought persists in western Upper Peninsula but crops generally improved in the Lower Peninsula. May counties report poor soil moisture for the first time in months. Temperatures have been moderate to high with sunshine aiding vegetation. Pastures, Meadows, beans, port, tomatoes and potatoes are in good to fair condition. Some blight and anthracnose observed in crops. Frequent rains caused damage to grains in the shock and delayed threshing and related farm work. Fruit in fair to good condition but scarce.
Showers and possibly thunderstorms tonight and Thursday with little temperature change. Expect moderate to locally strong shifting winds throughout the period.

Robert Masten four reported a hurt right shoulder. A group of children played nearby as a 10 by four foot concrete piece toppled, trapping Billie mid thigh. He required medical attention. others escaped uninjured.
