Workers at the South Plains Fair watch the skies anxiously as rain chances fade. The weatherman forecasts ideal conditions through Wednesday with no rain today, promising warmer opening day.
Police report a weekend burglary spree at Municipal Coliseum and nearby stations and cafes with loose change and cigars taken. Evidence includes size five barefoot tracks and a clock clocked at 2:30 a.m. The fair opens with a parade and area school day events to follow.
The Warren Commission finds no evidence of conspiracy in Kennedy's Dallas assassination. Oswald acted alone. Ruby had no connection. Security lapses cited. 552 witnesses heard. Johnson forms advisory panel to implement recommendations.
Johnson City First Christian Church pastor Ray Akin said his Sunday prayer for President Johnson was not political. Akin released a critic’s letter targeting Dean Francis Sayre Jr for attacking Johnson from the pulpit.
The Warren Commission criticized Secret Service and FBI failings in Kennedy Dallas visit and urged overhaul. It praised on scene agents but faulted Dallas police handling of Oswald and the Ruby shooting as a source of myths.
Accompanied by police, Lee Harvey Oswald is photographed in Dallas on November 23, 1963. He is escorted to an interrogation room for questioning regarding the previous day’s assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas.
Heavy rains left the South Plains with light crop damage and concerns over irrigation delays while floods along Cibolo Creek at Boerne damaged businesses and homes. A drowning occurred in Boerne as the region expected warmer conditions and scattered rain later in the week.
