Lions Open Drive For Lubbock Girl Scouts

Members of the Lubbock Lions Club begin the annual financial drive for the Lubbock Girl Scouts with a kick off at the Lubbock hotel at 9 o clock Wednesday. The goal is 5000 dollars, with 5500 raised last year. R O Sam Bennett chairs the drive, Clark Wood vice chair, captains named, teams formed for solicitation. The Lubbock Girl Scouts ministry serves about 700 girls in 60 troops supported by 200 adults, with plans to hire a field secretary and outdoor program expansion. All funds stay in Lubbock to support local programs and salaries of executive staff.

Navy confirms CPO Clyde A. Pierce, missing since July 30 in the Philippine Sea aboard the Indianapolis, is presumed dead. Two Bodies Recovered from 1944 Alpine Crash
