Connecticut Applies Pretrial Disclosure Experiment

Federal prosecutors in Hartford began a pretrial disclosure experiment requiring full government evidence be shared with defense lawyers a week before trial. Defense also must disclose its evidence, with exceptions for intimidating witnesses or complex financial cases where tailoring testimony is likely. U.S. Attorney Jon O. Newman called it an experiment and noted it could be scrapped if ineffective.

Democrats See Kennedy Little Chance of 1968 Nomination

UPI reports a New York Times News or U.S. News & World Report poll shows 49 of 50 state Democratic leaders and 44 of 49 chairmen doubt Kennedy can topple Johnson for the 1968 ticket. They expect Humphrey to be renominated if Johnson seeks it, with mixed views on future prospects beyond 1968 and 1972. Gun imports from Sweden also mentioned.

Youth Charged With Burglary

A 17 year old, Robert A. Manriquez of 519 Ave O, was charged with burglary of a private residence. Officer John Rhyne pursued him after he fled from 1613 10th Lt. Patrolman Rhyne cited recovered items including a bowling ball, shoes, costume jewelry, and a shirt.

Suspects Named In Stabbing Incidents In Lubbock

Two stabbing incidents in Lubbock yielded named suspects though no complaints filed this morning. Robert Mooring, 29, of 1009 E 290th St, listed in satisfactory condition at Methodist Hospital after a chest stab at about 12 45 a m in a car at Mighty Man Inn EF 37th and Walnut. Iva Sterling, 38, of 3207 Teak Ave, in fair condition with cuts to abdomen and neck from a Saturday cafe incident.

Rites Set for Four Hobbs Plane Crash Victims

Funeral services were planned for three of four Hobbs residents killed when a light plane crashed near Hobbs on Saturday night. Victims include James Barrett 25 Mary Hern 19 Lynda Prideaux 20 and Charles Ellison 28 FAA air traffic controller. Barrett and Hern services set for Tuesday and Wednesday with graveside and church rites. Authorities said the wreckage was found 580 feet from the impact point in a 20 foot square area after last radio contact at 10:04 p.m.

City cases report vandalism and burglaries in Lubbock

City police investigated vandalism and burglaries this morning. A window peeping suspect was released on bond. Break ins touched a church site, a party house, apartments, a furniture store, a Gulf station, and a service station. Stolen items included televisions, a purse, cash, jewelry, and tires.

Slide families reunion in Lub bock draws 125 members

About 125 members from old settler families of the Slide community met Saturday at the Precinct 1 Clubhouse in Lub bock. Officers elected were Mrs. W. P. Wyrick president and Mrs. A. R. Four Defendants Plead Guilty in County Court

Four defendants pleaded guilty in County Court at Law No. 2 in misdemeanor cases. Paul Crow faced theft of a suitcase at TNM&O bus station Sept. 8 with a $50 fine, costs, and 10 days in jail. James Wacasey received a month in jail for lewd photographs plus costs and $500 bond on a check-law complaint. Louis Dominguez was fined $175 plus costs and five days in jail for driving while intoxicated. Don Graham faced a check-law violation with $25 and costs.
