Detroit based Chrysler and the United Auto Workers announced a three year contract after a 63 hour strike. The pact eases overtime rules while offering a total wage increase of three percent plus 22 cents in year one and three percent in years two and three. Union leaders cited concessions from Chrysler on other issues as a reason for the compromise.
