Admiral says war possible in Suez crisis

Admiral Arleigh Burke warned that the Suez crisis could ignite a shooting war and said the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean is prepared to evacuate Americans and take necessary measures. He noted the fleet is adequate to the job and could be reinforced if fighting expands.

In Oakland on September 16 Rev. Albert Wessling noted he would be richer if he tracked sermon time. A thief stole his watch worth 49.50 from the church sacristy during services at First Trinity Lutheran.

Area Motorist Dies In Petersburg Train Crash

A Morton area man Otis B Williams 54 died instantly when his car collided with a special train blocking a Petersburg highway. His 12 year old son Kenneth was unharmed. Williams funeral services are pending with survivors listed. Another two South Plains youths were injured slightly in a scooter crash near O'Donnell. A drowning occurred at Grapevine Lake and a separate fatal incidents tally across Texas reached 24 for the weekend.
