Indian Girl Seeks Texas Boss Ranch Ends Up Housed

An 18 year old Iroquois woman from New York hitchhiked to Texas seeking a Texas boss ranch. She traveled with a dog and spoke three languages. Salvation Army provided a floor for her and allowed the dog. Police found her near Benbrook and brought her to Fort Worth for care.

Lubbock school bond wins overwhelming support

The $3,400,000 bond for immediate building needs in Lubbock public schools passed Saturday with 1,556 votes in favor and 102 opposed among 1,662 ballots. The Dunbar High School box voted unanimously, and J T Hutchinson Junior High saw 631 yes to 10 no. Officials expect priority for new classrooms and overcrowded schools, including a 30 room combined junior senior high for whites and a new junior high for Negroes.
