The Superior Oil Co flowed gas from No. 1 Cone Butte Unit a wildcat 20 miles west-southwest of Carlsbad in west Eddy County. A hill stem test at 10,244 450 feet was open 10 minutes recovering gas cut mud and drilling mud. A second drill stem test at 16,470 490 feet used a water blanket and was open two hours with gas to sale at 53 000 and 64 000 cf per day. Initial shutin pressure 5 386 psi, flowing 920 psi. final shutin 4 566 psi. Location six miles southwest of Ralph Lowe’s No 1 Indian Basin Federal.
