Senate study warns of broader anti US riots abroad

A Senate internal security subcommittee study cites four major riots in Japan, Colombia, Venezuela, and Bolivia as evidence of Communist use of mob violence to push anti-American aims. It warns these tactics will expand and shows governments were unprepared for such coordinated disruptions. The incidents include Bogota in April 1958, Caracas during Nixon’s 1958 visit, La Paz after a Time article in March 1959, and Tokyo before Eisenhower’s 1959 visit.

Marines To Leave Today From Avalanche-Journal

Wife Held In Slaying After Car Argument

The wife of a 29 year old Black man who died from three gunshot wounds in a car along Railroad Avenue during an early Sunday argument was held for investigation of murder. The victim, Chide Williams, lived on Avenue D. The wife signed a statement saying she and Williams had been out with two other Black men, the car was driven by Robert Alexander Dumas, 35, of Avenue D, and Williams threatened to hit her. She said she fired twice from her purse after pleading not to be struck.

Hearing Set In Cuban Hijacking
