A shooting at a Sunday dance near Civic Center Music Hall killed Jose Villegas, 47, of New Deal, and Victor Vela, 20, of 122 N. Ave Q. Juanita Flores, 44th Street, was wounded in the left leg, not believed seriously. A fourth person was missing. police questioned five witnesses as investigators sought a motive.

Denver bomb plot targets Crider and Hogue shocks city
Police said a bomber mailed dynamite devices to school board member Robert Crider and policewoman Carol Hogue after four bombs were found and defused in restaurants. A postal worker spotted Crider’s package and a similar device to Hogue’s was intercepted before delivery. The dynamite, seven years old and unstable, could have killed the recipients.
