Texas Compress and Warehouse on the South Plains announces no cotton bales over 600 pounds will be accepted for compression due to equipment damage and handling difficulties. Normal bales should weigh 450 to 500 pounds, the company said in a Wednesday notice.

He urged daily teacher observation, school plant inspections, and use of state health bulletins. A survey of 354 Austin elementary children showed 58.7 percent needed medical care, 59 percent vision care, and 92 percent dental attention.
Roland W. Bush a Farm Credit administration examiner in Houston resigned alleging a federal bank for cooperatives was pressured to suppress a critical examination until after the November election. He cited a letter from a supervising examiner and said his report was buried. FCA officials denied political motives and announced a re-examination.
Longview reports First Lt. William C. Gruver, who flew more than a thousand wounded men, reached Harmon General hospital after a New Guinea air trip. His wife Mrs. Burnell Gruver resides in Tyler. He credits 1,300+ motor hours and recalls a takeoff accident that left part of his foot severed and a leg gashed when a red hot engine tore through the plane.

Paris report says the U S Army will open service high schools and universities in France and England once World War II ends to help soldiers resume education. Seventy five thousand teachers will be recruited from the Army and credits will be honored by U S schools.
