A Santa Fe railroad worker, Jay E. Carroll of Caldwell, spent over four hours trapped beneath a 280000 pound crane after it toppled on U S Highway 60 near Hereford. He was removed about 9 30 p m and listed in critical condition at an Amarillo hospital. Two other workers, Pat Lucas and Ray Barton, suffered injuries and were hospitalized in Deaf Smith County.

A new Lubbock County Bail Bond Board was formed Tuesday to regulate bondsmen under a Texas statute. The six member board chaired by Criminal District Attorney Alton Griffin will license, suspend or revoke bondsmen, with an initial $500 license application fee and a $5,000 certificate of deposit or $100 value property requirement. The group met at the county courthouse as rules are clarified ahead of a potential Dec 1 effective date.
