Caladium Tubers Need Safe Winter Drying For Reuse

Caladiums should be treated as annuals with new tubers each spring as fall rains hinder curing. Lift clumps when night temps hit 50 or below, dry 10 to 14 days in a warm dry space, then inspect tubers for disease and insects. Dust with Captan and Sevin, store in dry peat or vermiculite at 60 degrees, and plant again only after soil reaches 70 degrees.
