Flood Control Project Dedication Near Dickens
The Duck Creek Watershed Flood Control Project completes 17 lakes to curb Brazos River floods in Crosby and Dickens counties. A $2.5 million effort funded by the federal government and local sponsors will be turned over to officials at a 11 a.m. ceremony four miles northwest of Dickens. The project, including 12 primary lakes and five stabilization structures, was financed with $1.5 million in federal funds and about $1 million from local land donations and easements. The lakes will capture about 70 percent of historic floodwaters.

Bandit Steals $100 In Laundry Robbery At City Address
A man armed with a blue steel .32 caliber automatic robbed a laundry at 1017 E 29th St of about $100 in cash and change at 1:45 PM. Phillip, an employee, said the bandit entered through the north door while two workers were inside. The thief wore a ski mask and was about five feet eleven inches tall, 145 pounds, roughly in his early thirties.
